There is going to be a change for debit card and credit card users. If you do not make an online or contactless transaction with credit card and debit card by 16 March 2020, this feature will be discontinued. This feature requires that you make contactless transactions online at least once before March 16 with your debit and credit card. Your debit / credit card will continue to be available for other services. This new rule will also apply to new cards beginning March 16, 2020.

The Reserve Bank of India issued a notification on January 15, 2020 to enhance the security of transactions through debit card or credit card. It also asked card-issuing companies and banks to discontinue all credit and debit cards in online transaction and contactless payment services, which have never been used for online transactions.

There is no need to swipe the card holder for a transaction using contactless transactions. Payment is made even if the card is a short distance from the point of sale (PoS) machine The limit for a transaction is Rs 2000. Up to five contactless transactions can occur in a day. It uses RFID technology.
